For over half a century, the Hardin County Playhouse has been an artistic cornerstone for our community, bringing the magic of live theater to our audiences. Founded in 1970, Hardin County Playhouse has ingrained itself into the fabric of our community, providing a stage for local talent to shine and a palace for residents to experience the joy and power of live storytelling.

Over the years Hardin County Playhouse has evolved to consistently deliver high quality productions that entertain, challenge and bring joy to our area. Over the years we have seen many volunteers pour their hearts and souls into helping the Hardin County Playhouse continue to succeed.

The playhouse is more than just a theater; it’s a community hub. It’s a place where friendships are forged, where creativity is nurtured and where shared experiences create lasting memories.

For generations, our playhouse has been able to foster a love for the arts that has been passed down through the years. Local residents not only have the opportunity to come see great productions, but a chance to be in them or even behind the scenes, as well.

While we are coming to a close of our current season we have two great shows for folks to see or to be a part of. First up is a heartwarming classic for the whole family: “The Velveteen Rabbit.” This timeless tale of a toy rabbit who wishes to come to life through the power of love and imagination is sure to enchant children and adults alike. Performances run from April 11 to 20 on the weekends.

Following “The Velveteen Rabbit,” get ready for a dose of hilarious, high-energy fun with “9 to 5: The Musical.” This sassy and empowering show, based on the iconic 1980 film, follows three working women who decide to take on their sexist boss. Featuring catchy tunes and plenty of laughs, 9 to 5 is the perfect night out for adults.

Auditions are in April, with performances being the first two weekends of June. Get ready to sing along and cheer on these determined ladies.

These two fantastic shows are just a glimpse of what the Hardin County Playhouse has in store. Beyond the stage, the playhouse is dedicated to enriching the community through various programs and opportunities.

We offer a vibrant Youth Dramatics Program, completely free for middle and high school students, providing a space for young artists to explore their talents and develop their skills. We also welcome volunteers of all ages to participate in various aspects of our productions, from set building and costume design to ushering and backstage assistance. We are a place that is always looking to expand and grow our community involvement.
